1. Could you share the story of your journey in the real estate industry, leading to your current role at Savills?
After joining Savills in 2017, I was honoured to become a Member of the Board of Directors within just three years. This recognition highlighted my leadership and substantial contributions to the International Residential market, as well as my strong sales performance in a highly competitive environment.
As an award-winning professional with extensive experience across diverse disciplines and locations, I have cultivated knowledge of current market trends in international markets, including the UK, New York City, Los Angeles, Berlin, Frankfurt, Australia, and New Zealand.
I relish the diversity of the International Residential environment and genuinely enjoy collaborating with investors and clients from various backgrounds. My straightforward advice is rooted in my extensive experience across multiple markets.
2. How has your extensive experience influenced your approach to leading international residential sales at Savills?
With 22 years in the industry, I’ve learned what makes a leader truly effective. My approach at Savills is shaped by both exemplary and challenging leadership experiences. This blend of knowledge allows me to guide my team of top brokers with confidence, ensuring we consistently deliver market-leading results.
3. What critical factors guide your selection of Berkeley Group developments for your clients?
When choosing Berkeley Group developments, I prioritise the calibre of the development team, the strategic location of the project, and Berkeley’s unmatched reputation for quality and customer satisfaction.
4. What trends do you see emerging in the international residential real estate market?
The market in Hong Kong has undergone a dramatic shift—from being investment-centric to focusing on owner-occupiers and lifestyle-driven purchases, largely influenced by rising interest rates. However, I anticipate a return to investment-led buying as rates normalise . Savills’ extensive presence in London and our diverse property portfolio have been crucial in thriving during this market evolution.
5. What advice would you offer to those looking to invest in international residential real estate?
My advice is simple: work with an agent who truly understands the market and choose a developer with a proven record of customer care and service. These elements are absolutely essential when investing in overseas properties.
6. Can you share a memorable Berkeley Group project you’ve been involved with at Savills?
The 375 Kensington High Street development, particularly Charles House and Wolfe House, stands out for me. I sold over 30 units there, and every time I drive past, I marvel at the transformation. It was an extraordinary project—so much so that I wish I had bought a unit myself!
7. How do you foresee the future of international residential sales, especially with the shifting market dynamics and global trends?
While predicting the future is never easy, I am confident that London’s appeal will endure. In Hong Kong, a significant portion of my conversations revolves around investing in London—whether for education, second homes, or personal ties to the UK. The London market will always have a strong pull.
8. How important is it to understand and adapt to cultural nuances and local regulations in international real estate transactions, and how do you navigate these complexities?
Understanding cultural differences and local regulations is critical, and being regulated is equally important to instil confidence in buyers. I navigate these challenges by relying on a trusted team. Together, we ensure that we’re not just compliant but also culturally attuned, which is key to successful transactions.
9. What sets the Berkeley Group apart in terms of sustainable development and community integration?
Berkeley Group’s dedication to the customer journey is unparalleled. I’ve never had a client return dissatisfied with a Berkeley product. Their commitment to quality and sustainability is evident in every project, solidifying their position as a leader in the field.
10. How do you build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the international real estate market, particularly when collaborating with the Berkeley Group?
Building strong relationships is all about honesty and transparency. I provide stakeholders with accurate, straightforward feedback and information, which fosters trust and ensures long-lasting partnerships.
